PUSD After School Care Options
Pasadena Unified School district has a few options for families in need of after school care. Although some schools have after school enrichment programs that are unique to their campus, there are three programs that are available to all/most students across the district.
PasadenaLEARNs
PasadenaLEARNs Expanded Learning Program provides before school, after school, and summer enrichment opportunities for PUSD students TK – 8th grades. The program begins at school dismissal and ends at either 6 or 6:30 pm, depending on the school site. A typical afternoon includes supper, physical fitness activity, homework time, enrichment class, and social-emotional learning activities. Activities may include sports, cheer, dance, creative clubs, and more. Enrollment is first come, first served. Register at www.pusd.us/learns or www.6crickets.com . Registration for the 2025-2026 school year for returning students begins on May 16. TK, kindergarten and all other students new to PUSD can register starting on June 2.
PasadenaLEARNs is free for eligible students. Cost is $150 monthly; $35 registration fee. Fee-based programs are located at Don Benito, and Sierra Madre Elementary and Middle schools. Field and Don Benito have fee-based before school care.
Boys & Girls Club Pasadena
Boys & Girls Club Pasadena has two sites where they offer a variety of enriching programs designed to foster academic success and promote personal growth in children and teens. The after school program provides homework help, tutoring, and extra-curricular activities such as arts, sports, and technology. Transportation is provided from some school sites to the clubhouses. Cost is $40 per week; $50 enrollment fee; $25 per month for transportation. Financial assistance is provided for eligible families. For students in kindergarten – high school. There is not a program for TK students.
City of Pasadena After School Adventures Program
The ASAP program is an after school program for students who are at least 4 ½ years old at the start of the school year. The only middle school program is at McKinley. This recreational program includes homework time, physical fitness activities, and enrichment opportunities starting at dismissal until 6 pm. Cost is $15 per week; $25 registration fee. Scholarships are available for eligible students.
