Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood Education Department of the Pasadena Unified School District serves children ages 3 through 11 in 20 different school locations across the District. PUSD’s Early Childhood Education Programs are designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, creative, linguistic, and cognitive development of each child through developmentally and culturally appropriate practices while responding to the needs of the child and his or her family. Programs include:
- Full Day Preschool
- Half Day Preschool
- Before and After School Care (see full day preschool)
- Dual Language Immersion Program (DLIP) Preschool
* Please note that Transitional and Expanded Transitional Kindergarten (TK & ETK) fall under the district’s Elementary Education Department, not under Early Education programs.
Full Day Preschool services are available only to families who meet income and other eligibility requirements. Families who are not income eligible may be able to obtain half-day preschool services. (Mandarin DLIP is available on a full-fee basis only; Spanish DLIP is available on a full fee or subsidized basis.) Children must be 3 years of age by September 1 in order to enroll in all preschool programs.
