PEN: Choosing an Elementary School

  • Pasadena Unified School District 351 South Hudson Avenue, rm. 151 Pasadena, CA, 91101 United States (map)

Having options is great - and sometimes stressful. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all your elementary school choices or just want to learn more about what our local school district has to offer, join PEN for one of our most popular free programs.

Parent and education expert Dr. Jennifer Miyake-Trapp provides an overview of what Pasadena Unified has to offer every student, including special programs and magnet schools. She’ll explain what test scores and school “ratings” do and don’t tell you about a school, and how your own family’s values along with insights from school visits and parent perspectives can contribute to a thoughtful, well-informed decision. Presentation followed by a chance to meet and chat with parents of children currently attending elementary schools across PUSD. A parent representative from the Community Advisory Committee for Special Education will also be on hand to answer questions about accessing SPED services in the district.
